How to copy DVDs in linux ubuntu?

I know Ubuntu has a built in cd and DVD copier but can I copy, copy protected DVDs with that too? If I can't can you tell me how to do so, or send me a link that can tell me. I haven't used Linux since I got my new computer but If I can easily backup my copy protected DVDs i'll gladly install a dual boot again.
