An addled egg is an egg that has been shaken up vigorously enough to stop devopement so it will not hatch. Many hobby breeders do this when they do not want any more babies. It allows the hen to sit till she loses interest in the eggs.If done early enough it will prevent the egg from developing at all. The egg can be fertile or infertile . Addled means to make inefficient or worthless; to muddle. If the egg is addled accidentally it depends on how old the egg is whether a chick dies .
